Gate Update: Gate Money, Visa Partnership and Singapore Gala Mark Exchange’s Shift Toward Everyday Finance

Gate used TOKEN2049 Singapore 2026 to present its largest product shift in years. The exchange launched Gate Money, an all-in-one account that combines digital assets, fiat, stocks, ETFs, gold and bank accounts inside one app. It also announced a crypto-linked Visa card planned for more than 40 markets. Alongside the product news, Gate disclosed reserves of $8.215 billion with 127% coverage. DefiLlama data also shows the platform among the leading centralized exchanges by net inflows and open interest. Together, these items show a company trying to move from trading venue to everyday financial platform.

Gate Money and the Visa card

Gate Money is built around the slogan “One Gate, Everything Money.” It lets eligible users open a global electronic bank account in their own name through the Gate app. They can then receive funds, convert currencies, transfer money, invest and pay from the same account. Users can update the app to v8.39.0 to enable it. A feature Gate emphasizes is spending against held assets, including stocks, without selling them first.

The Visa partnership extends this into payments. Gate says the crypto-linked card can be applied for and managed in the app. It works online and in stores wherever Visa is accepted, and crypto is converted to fiat automatically at the point of sale. Visa’s network covers more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories. Nischint Sanghavi, Visa’s Head of Digital Currencies for APAC, described the aim as connecting new forms of value to established payment infrastructure.

Strategy, security and compliance

At a press conference at Raffles Hotel Singapore on October 8, Gate Founder and CEO Dr. Han set out the company’s direction. In an interview with CoinDesk, he said all-in-one financial apps could become one of crypto’s biggest consumer trends this year and next. He described the opportunity as turning crypto into a basic function of an everyday financial account.

Dr. Han named three priorities for the next three years: digital asset trading, Gate Money and stocks and other asset services. Trading stays the core business, with continued investment across spot, derivatives and on-chain products. Gate Money will develop fund management, payments, transfers and multi-currency accounts. He also said Gate Money should reduce cross-border transfer costs. He pointed to stablecoins, on-chain payments and digital securities as forces reshaping financial infrastructure.

On security, Dr. Han called security and compliance the “two cornerstones” of long-term development. Gate says it is strengthening access controls, risk monitoring, transaction controls and risk segregation across business lines. As of August 19, 2026, its Proof of Reserves showed $8.215 billion in total reserves and a 127% coverage ratio. That is above the 100% industry benchmark. The licensing footprint cited includes:

  • a MiCA crypto-asset service license and a PSD2 Payment Institution license in Malta
  • a full VARA license in Dubai
  • registration in Australia
  • locally compliant entities in markets such as Japan
  • 37 state-level Money Transmitter Licenses held by Gate US, which serves customers across 47 U.S. states and territories

Gate says its compliance coverage spans 81 regulated jurisdictions.

Gate Gala and conference appearances

On the evening of October 8, Gate hosted its Gala Awards Dinner at Raffles Singapore, with Tencent Cloud as title sponsor. The event marked Gate’s 13th anniversary, and Gate says it now serves more than 61 million users. Nearly 300 founders, institutional representatives, investors, builders and content creators attended. Dr. Han delivered a keynote, toasted the launch of Gate Money and discussed asset growth. He cited declining cash purchasing power, management costs and professional barriers as user challenges. He said Gate Money lets users apply Earn and Staking within the same account.

Gate Futures CEO Brian Reisbeck gave a keynote titled “Building Gate in the USA.” He has more than 20 years of experience in financial crime prevention and regulatory strategy, including roles at a global digital asset exchange and at Robinhood. He described Gate Futures as a wholly owned subsidiary of Gate US. He said the unit will keep strengthening compliance, risk management and trading infrastructure for the derivatives market.

The gala’s awards recognized nearly 70 individuals and partners in three categories: “Voices of Influence,” “Growth & Ecosystem” and “Impact & Honors.” They covered areas from KOL outreach and channel development to institutional services, media, capital, compliance and risk management. Tencent Cloud representatives presented some of the awards.

Gate executives also appeared at two other events. On October 8, Executive Director Edwin Cheung joined the Hack Seasons Conference panel “The Payment Rails of 2030,” alongside representatives of Mercuryo, Mastercard, Hashgraph and Nethermind. He said wallets, exchanges, stablecoins, blockchains and AI agents are entering the payment ecosystem. He added that Gate has partnerships with multiple banks and financial institutions and is building a global payment network. On October 9, he moderated “Financial Products Tokenization: Stocks, Bonds, T-Bills, MMFs” at the RWA Summit. The discussion covered how traditional products are moving toward on-chain issuance and transfer.
