Gate Update: From BTC Rankings To Stock Event Contracts, Gate’s Cross-Market Expansion Accelerates

In Brief

Gate climbs to #3 in BTC spot volume while expanding across metals, stocks, options, and on-chain trading amid macro volatility.

Gate Update: From BTC Rankings To Stock Event Contracts, Gate’s Cross-Market Expansion Accelerates

Independent data is increasingly telling the same story about Gate. According to Glassnode’s latest The Week On-chainreport (“Escape Velocity”), Gate now ranks third in BTC spot volume among all covered exchanges — the result of a two-year climb that saw its market share jump from 2.0% to 9.1%, the largest gain of any venue tracked. Gate also held a top-three position in BTC spot volume in nine of the last 24 months, reflecting the consistency of that growth rather than a one-off spike. Zooming out to the broader BTC market, Glassnode also reported that 24-hour spot volume across exchanges has risen 121% from its August trough, with BTC now trading above the True Market Mean at $77,000 and the long-term holder supply block at $84,000–$85,000 — a structural recovery in which Gate’s market share gains stand out prominently. Meanwhile, DefiLlama recorded Gate among the top three global centralized exchanges by 24-hour net inflows, with $60.94 million flowing in behind Binance ($809.49M) and Bybit ($196.74M). Add to that Gate’s top-three positions in both gold and silver futures volume amid a week of sharp macro-driven volatility, and the platform’s growing footprint across both crypto and traditional financial markets is hard to ignore. Here is everything else that moved at Gate this week.

Macro Pressure and Institutional Trading

The macro backdrop remained challenging. The Federal Reserve raised rates by 25 bps, pushing the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield to around 5%, with the high-rate environment continuing to weigh on risk asset pricing. BTC and ETH came under early-week pressure before recovering, and weekly BTC ETF flows improved from net outflows to roughly flat, while ETH ETFs recorded approximately $141 million in net outflows. Against that backdrop, Gate TradFi weekly trading volume reached approximately $110 billion. On-chain and derivatives markets also showed structural shifts, with BTC open interest rising 6.42% and funding rates staying positive. Gate Institutional is continuing to build out its cross-market infrastructure — including OES and CrossEx tools for API trading, cross-platform execution, and settlement coordination — to serve institutions navigating this environment across spot, futures, TradFi, stocks, ETFs, and options.

Metals Futures: Volatility Drives Volume

Hawkish Fed signals sent precious metals sharply lower this week. Robust U.S. September PMI data compounded the pressure, driving the dollar and Treasury yields higher while Gold (XAU) fell 1.53% to $4,278.29 and Silver (XAG) dropped 4.00% to $64.02. Despite the turbulence — or perhaps because of it — trading activity on Gate surged: silver futures hit $185 million in 24-hour volume (second in the industry), and gold futures reached $388 million (third place). Gate’s metals offering, which pioneered the industry’s first Metals Perpetual Futures and CFD section covering Gold, Silver, and Platinum with 24/7 USDT-settled trading, continued to attract activity through its Unified Account system, which allows users to manage metals alongside stocks, forex, indices, and crypto from a single interface.

Options Growth and a New Hedging Challenge

Gate’s options market posted steady gains this week. Total options trading volume rose 1.84% week-over-week, while average daily traders increased 16.64% and new user participation grew 5.67%. To sustain the momentum, Gate has launched Season 2 of the Futures × Options Hedging Challenge: new options users can earn 10 USDT after their first eligible trade, and all participants can earn up to 25 USDT daily by completing futures and options hedging tasks.

Stocks and Forex: More Symbols, More Markets

Gate’s equities and forex futures continued to expand. Eight new stock symbols were added to the Futures Stock Section — including MSTU (2X Long MSTR Daily Target ETF), OKLO, BLSH, CORZ, and JEPQ — bringing the total to 459 stocks supported for futures trading with up to 20x leverage. The Forex Section simultaneously added USDBRL (USD/BRL) futures. All new listings include Trading Bots and Copy Trading support from launch.

Japanese equities also had a strong week on the platform. Metaplanet (3350) rose 20.16%, Ibiden (4062) gained 14.62%, and Data Section (3905) climbed 13.61%. Gate Stocks currently covers more than 12,800 stocks and ETFs across U.S., Japanese, Hong Kong, and Korean markets, all tradeable with USDT with fractional shares available from as little as 0.01 share.

Event Contracts Expand to Stocks

Gate announced the launch of what it describes as the world’s first stock event contracts, extending a product previously available for crypto to traditional equity underlyings. The contracts support 5-minute and 15-minute bullish or bearish positions with no leverage, no liquidation, and no margin calls — losses are capped at the initial stake. Early exit is available at any time and the minimum entry is 5 USDT. Phase 2 of the Gate Event Contracts Trading Competition is live through October 1, offering tiered rebates, new-user rewards, and a cumulative leaderboard prize pool of up to 12,500 USDT.

Meme Trading: Gate Trenches and a New GP Listing

Gate Research published a thematic report on the evolution of Meme Terminals, arguing that competition in the sector is shifting from pure execution speed toward integrated capabilities — from Trading Terminals to Alpha Terminals, from Smart Money tracking to Social Graphs, and from Copy Trade to Agent Trade. Gate’s own answer to this shift is Gate Trenches, which brings on-chain asset discovery, data analysis, and trade execution into a unified account experience across 15+ networks including Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Base. Social discovery tools such as KOL Rankings and Callout Rankings add a further layer of on-chain intelligence, while trading fees start from 0.5% — with zero-gas trading on Robinhood Chain and Arc available on a promotional basis.

On the listings side, Gate Futures Meme Section added GP — a Solana-based token tied to the Gold Pieces currency from the classic game RuneScape — with 1x–10x leverage and full Trading Bots and Copy Trading support from launch.

Market Education: What Comes Next for U.S. Stocks After the FOMC?

Gate Live hosted the second episode of Lucas’s Global Stock Market Insights on September 24, with Lucas Sum, Gate’s Head of Market Development for Equities, examining the key question: what is the market pricing in after the latest FOMC meeting? The session covered shifting interest rate expectations, tech and AI sector dynamics, sector rotation, and how Fed policy transmits into stock valuations and capital flows — including a breakdown of post-FOMC moves across U.S. equities, Treasury yields, and the dollar, with key signals to watch highlighted for the period ahead.

Gate’s activity this week reflects a platform moving on multiple fronts simultaneously: consolidating its position in crypto spot and derivatives markets, extending its reach into traditional assets, and building the infrastructure — from institutional tools to on-chain gateways — to support that breadth. The Glassnode ranking, BTC market recovery data, and net inflow figures together suggest the market is increasingly taking note.
