Gate Update: From Crypto Exchange To Global Finance Platform — Options, TradFi Rankings, And A 60M Milestone

Gate Update: From Crypto Exchange To Global Finance Platform — Options, TradFi Rankings, And A 60M Milestone

Gate’s registered user base crossed 60 million this week — a figure its founder Dr. Han framed plainly on social media: “One million crypto users in the world when we started. 60 million on Gate alone today.” The milestone coincides with two significant developments. Gate launched U.S. stock options trading for the first time, covering nine major equities including NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, and Amazon, settled in USDT with zero platform commissions and no requirement for a separate stock or margin account. Simultaneously, the 2026 Crypto TradFi Landscape Report from RootData Research confirmed Gate’s lead in TradFi asset coverage: 1,022 assets as of August 24, 4.2 times the count of the second-ranked platform, with a TradFi volume share of 10.7% in August placing it third globally. Scale, product breadth, and market recognition set the tone for what was otherwise a dense week of product updates.

Compliance and Reserves

Accompanying the user milestone, Gate disclosed updated reserve figures: as of August 19, total reserves stood at $8.215 billion with an overall reserve ratio of 127%, covering nearly 500 user assets. BTC and ETH excess reserve ratios reached 22.79% and 22.05% respectively, while user assets held in USDT, USDC, USD1, and GUSD totaled $1.578 billion at a combined reserve ratio of 111.63%. On the regulatory side, Gate Europe holds both a MiCA license and a Payment Institution license, and Gate entities have completed registrations or obtained authorizations across Malta, the Bahamas, Japan, Australia, and Dubai. Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti addressed blockchain’s institutional trajectory in a LinkedIn post this week, framing settlement automation and cross-market connectivity as the technology’s primary value proposition for financial infrastructure, with MiCA providing the regulatory foundation for deeper integration.

Infrastructure

Gate launched a Unified USD Order Book, consolidating spot trading across USD, USDC, USD1, RLUSD, and other dollar-pegged currencies into a single shared depth pool. Orders in different stablecoins are matched within the same market, with automatic conversion handled at settlement — eliminating the need for manual pre-conversion and reducing liquidity fragmentation. The feature is live on Gate App v8.35 and via web.

New Listings and Meme Coverage

Cluster Protocol (CP) launched with spot and perpetual futures (up to 20x leverage), accompanied by a Launchpool event running September 7–21 where users can stake BTC, ETH, or CP to share 5,000,000 CP in rewards. BASECAT, ANSEM, and FONE perpetual futures also went live with bots and copy trading support; FONE is a Solana-based meme coin positioned around mobile-first social trading. More broadly, Gate listed seven meme-oriented assets across BNB Chain, Solana, Base, and Robinhood Chain — including 牛来, MARSCOIN, PONS, and CASHCAT — with post-listing gains ranging from 25% to 288%.

Stocks and Tokenized Assets

Gate gStocks recorded notable moves, with MiniMax (MINIMAXG) up 14.79% and 2x Long SNDK ETF (SNXXG) gaining 12.16%. The gStocks segment operates on a 1:1 fully backed reserve model and supports 24/7 trading from 1 USDT. In Hong Kong equities tracked on Gate, DONGGUANG CHEMICAL rose 27.08% and WANGSHI INTERNATIONAL gained 26.37% on September 1. Lucas Sum, Gate’s Head of Market Development for Equities, noted in a LinkedIn post that fractional shares — available on Gate from 0.01 shares — allow position sizing to follow investor conviction and allocation intent rather than nominal stock price. Gate Pre-IPOs conducted its second 7% share unlock for SpaceX (SPCX) on September 3, distributing shares equivalent to 8.75% of current holdings directly to users’ stock accounts.

Commodities and Derivatives

Gate reported leading positions across several commodity derivatives segments. CoinGlass data shows Gate holds 56.07% of industry-wide open interest in Natural Gas futures, ranking first, while its Copper open interest accounts for 28.06% of the market, placing third. In metals, a sharp volatility episode in gold and silver markets on September 3 drove a derivatives surge: Gate’s Gold futures open interest reached $431 million and Silver open interest hit $94.53 million, with both ranking in the top two globally per CoinGlass.

Copy Trading

Gate’s futures copy trading segment posted a 136.5% week-on-week increase in average daily new Copiers. CFD copy trading capital grew 26.9% WoW. The Gate Elite Trader Championship, running through September 21, offers a 500,000 USDT prize pool across futures and CFD tracks, converting volume, returns, and copier metrics into Firepower Points.

Launchpool and Airdrop Ecosystem

August data showed sustained activity across Gate’s distribution programs. Launchpool introduced five new projects with total staking volume exceeding $1.2 billion; PIPEDOG recorded a peak APR of 710.68% in its final hour. CandyDrop launched three projects, with the BTC campaign drawing over 45,000 participants. Pre-IPOs added the KIMI project; HODLer Airdrop introduced one new project.

Payments and AI

Gate Card expanded its use cases to cover subscriptions for ChatGPT and Claude. Eligible first-time subscribers receive up to 50% cashback (capped at 10 USDT) through September 27. The card operates across Visa and Mastercard networks with Apple Pay and Google Pay support, covering approximately 150 million merchants in over 200 countries. On the AI front, Gate AI partnered with XYO to launch XYO Crypto Cards, a prediction game where players forecast price direction for three daily tokens and compete against an AI model, with predictions recorded on-chain via XYO Layer One.

Market Flows and Macro Recap

Gate Ventures’ weekly recap described a modest recovery in global risk assets: the S&P 500 rose 0.49% while BTC fell 3.2% and ETH declined 1.9% for the week. Spot BTC and ETH ETF inflows totaled $924.4 million and $824 million respectively, and the Fear & Greed Index registered 62. Infrastructure deals dominated funding activity, with $209.5 million raised across 15 transactions. An on-chain transfer of 200,000 HYPE worth approximately $16.5 million from Hyperliquid to Gate was recorded during the period.

Exchange flow data from DefiLlama captured Gate’s position across multiple time windows. Over the past month, Gate recorded $520.45 million in net inflows, ranking third globally. Two separate seven-day snapshots placed Gate first among all centralized exchanges, with figures of $96.64 million and $78.19 million recorded at different points in the week. Over 24-hour windows, Gate recorded inflows of $60.69 million (ranked second) and $48.54 million (ranked top three) in separate readings. The variation across snapshots reflects real-time ranking fluctuations rather than contradictions in the underlying data.

Event Market

Gate Event Market is running a Big 5 Leagues Points Boost Campaign through September 14, spanning Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 fixtures. A Ligue 1 match between PSG and Monaco on September 4 showed a 71% market support rate for PSG. A separate Event Contracts trading contest runs through September 9, with an unlimited prize pool and a per-user ceiling of 9,200 USDT.
