Gate Launches Event Contracts, Expanding Innovative Trading Offerings For The Digital Asset Market

In Brief

Gate launches Event Contracts for simplified BTC and ETH price-direction trading with probability-based pricing, capped risk, and a $50,000 debut carnival.

Gate Launches Event Contracts, Expanding Innovative Trading Offerings For The Digital Asset Market

Gate, a prominent global digital asset trading platform, has formally introduced Event Contracts, a novel trading instrument centered on forecasting price direction. The product eliminates the necessity of managing leverage, margin, or other intricate trading configurations, as users merely forecast whether assets such as BTC or ETH will rise or fall within a designated timeframe, thereby presenting a more intuitive and accessible method of engaging in short-term market movements. Event Contracts are currently accessible within the Gate App (Version 8.28.5), where users can locate the dedicated Event Contracts section on the Futures page.

The inaugural release supports the two foremost digital assets, BTC and ETH, across several settlement intervals, encompassing 5-minute, 15-minute, 1-hour, and 4-hour contracts. Each event is predicated on the price direction of the underlying asset within a specified timeframe, permitting users to select either Bullish (Up) or Bearish (Down). Upon the conclusion of an event, contracts are automatically settled in accordance with the actual market outcome. Users retain the ability to purchase or liquidate their positions at any point prior to expiration to secure profits or mitigate risk, thereby affording enhanced trading flexibility without the necessity of awaiting settlement.

Event Contracts employ a probability-based pricing model, with each contract valued between 0.01 and 0.99 USDT. The contract price mirrors the market’s implied probability of the predicted outcome; for instance, a price of 0.65 USDT indicates that the market attributes approximately a 65% probability to that outcome. With a minimum trade size of merely 1.5 USDT, the product substantially reduces the barrier to entry, enabling users to participate flexibly across various price levels in alignment with their individual market expectations.

In contrast to conventional futures products, Event Contracts do not utilize leverage and remove margin calls and forced liquidation. A user’s maximum potential loss is confined to the amount expended to acquire the contract, thereby offering a clearly delineated risk profile. Should the user’s prediction prove accurate, the winning contract is settled at 1 USDT per contract upon expiration, with no settlement fee levied by the platform. Should the prediction prove inaccurate, the contract expires worthless.

Debut Carnival: $50,000 Prize Pool and Multi-Tiered Reward Structure

Concurrently, Gate has commenced the Event Contract Debut Carnival on July 21, 02:00 (UTC), presenting a total prize pool valued at $50,000 distributed across three reward mechanisms: First Trade Loss Compensation, Profit Rewards, and Trading Volume Incentives. Users who register and trade event contracts will be afforded the opportunity to secure corresponding rewards, thereby reducing the barrier to entry for new users while simultaneously stimulating engagement with the product.

As digital asset trading undergoes continuous evolution, the demand for simpler and more intuitive trading instruments has experienced steady growth. By supplanting the complexities inherent in traditional derivatives with straightforward price-direction predictions, Gate’s Event Contracts retain the exhilaration of market participation while rendering short-term trading more accessible to a wider demographic of users.

As one of the world’s foremost digital asset trading platforms, Gate persists in expanding and optimizing its diversified product ecosystem. The introduction of Event Contracts further augments the platform’s innovative derivatives portfolio while ushering in a more flexible and accessible trading experience to the digital asset market. Moving forward, Gate intends to continue broadening supported assets, event categories, and contract durations, further elevating the product experience and reinforcing its global digital asset trading ecosystem with more comprehensive and efficient investment tools and services.
