Fairblock Launches CUSD Privacy Stablecoin On Arbitrum, Enabling Confidential On-Chain Payments For Institutions And Individuals
In Brief
Fairblock launches CUSD, a privacy stablecoin on Arbitrum with encrypted amounts, balances, and four-layer compliance for institutions and individuals.

Decentralized privacy solutions provider Fairblock has announced the launch of CUSD, a privacy-focused stablecoin built on PYUSDx and powered by M0, PayPal, MoonPay, and Predicate. The asset is initially deployed on Arbitrum, marking what the company describes as the first confidential stablecoin to go live. Announcing the launch, Fairblock stated in a post on X that CUSD allows users to “move money onchain without broadcasting every balance and payment amount.”
CUSD is designed to support both public and private transfers. Users can conduct transparent transactions when openness is needed, or opt to encrypt payment amounts and account balances when confidentiality is required. According to the company, this flexibility addresses a persistent limitation of stablecoins and tokenized assets: while such instruments are increasingly used for payments, treasury operations, and trading, their balances and transaction amounts have historically been publicly exposed on-chain.
The product is positioned for two distinct audiences. Institutions can use CUSD to protect sensitive financial information, including payroll, treasury management, and over-the-counter settlement data. Individual users, meanwhile, can keep payment amounts and transaction flows confidential while still operating within familiar on-chain infrastructure. Fairblock indicated that it will encourage adoption and expand the use of privacy features through economic incentives, with further details to be announced at a later stage. Notably, the company emphasized ease of access: there is no bridging and no wallet switch required, and users can purchase CUSD through integration with Privy.
Compliance and Technical Architecture
Fairblock has stressed that confidentiality in CUSD is paired with verifiable controls rather than anonymity. The stablecoin incorporates four compliance layers—screening, containment, issuer controls, and selective disclosure—developed with Predicate specifically for institutional use. This architecture reflects the company’s broader positioning: offering a middle path between full public exposure and isolated anonymity systems, where sensitive values remain confidential while applications retain address-level controls, monitoring, and partner-specific compliance policies.
On the technical side, CUSD is audited by Nethermind. Fairblock highlights that the design requires no trusted execution environment or off-chain coprocessor, and no threshold committee controls user funds. Cryptographic operations are executed entirely on-chain, with assets held in non-custodial smart contracts. The system uses fast homomorphic encryption to enable confidential transfers settled in seconds rather than minutes.
Fairblock positions CUSD within its wider focus on programmable confidentiality for stablecoins, tokenized assets, transactions, and intelligent applications. The same infrastructure, the company notes, can eventually support AI inference, agentic workflows, and intelligent systems that interact with sensitive enterprise and financial data. If adoption develops as planned, CUSD could extend the debate around on-chain privacy from individual users to the institutional finance segment, where confidentiality over balances, payroll, and trading flows has long been a barrier to deploying public blockchain infrastructure for serious commercial activity.
