Crypto Community Rallies For Nepal As 1win Commits More Than $46,000 To Relief

Crypto Community Rallies For Nepal As 1win Commits More Than $46,000 To Relief

When a massive rock-and-ice collapse struck high in the Himalayas on August 26, the damage moved downstream fast. Water, mud, ice and debris tore through the Trishuli River system, destroying homes, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure across parts of Nepal.

In the days that followed, the crypto community started looking for ways to help. One of the more creative responses came from the Solana Foundation, which turned the profile picture of its official X account into a fundraiser.

Solana split the image into nine sections and auctioned each one off to brands. The winning companies would have their logos displayed on Solana’s official X profile picture and pinned post for a week. According to the official auction page, 100% of the funds raised were directed to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

1win took part in the auction and secured the Top Centre position with a $16,276 donation, the second-highest bid across all nine placements. By the time the final auction results were announced, the initiative had raised a total of $166,946 for relief efforts in Nepal.

It was a smart way to turn something brands already spend heavily on — online attention — into money that could actually help people on the ground. For 1win, the placement also made sense from a business perspective. The company has been expanding its presence in crypto and Web3, and Solana’s audience sits right in the middle of that world.

The auction was only part of 1win’s response.

The company also made a separate $30,000 donation to MHN, bringing its total contribution related to the Nepal disaster to $46,276. Unlike the auction contribution, this was a direct donation without a branding or promotional placement attached.

The Nepal donations also build on 1win’s wider charity work. Through its charitable initiatives, the company has supported projects across multiple countries, ranging from emergency assistance and food aid to sports programs and environmental projects.

At the same time, 1win has continued to develop its presence within the Solana ecosystem. The platform recently added support for USDC deposits and withdrawals on Solana, offering users another option for transferring stablecoins.

The minimum deposit is 5 USDC, while native SOL deposits can start from 0.0099353 SOL. These additions are part of the platform’s broader effort to accommodate different forms of crypto payments.

The update is separate from the Nepal relief effort, but it reflects the wider role Solana has come to play in the crypto economy. Its relatively low transaction costs have made the network increasingly useful for stablecoin transfers, including payments and cross-border transactions beyond traditional trading.

That matters for a platform like 1win, which operates across more than 100 countries and serves over 30 million registered users. Since launching in 2016, the company has expanded beyond its original sportsbook business into casino, esports, crypto and Web3 products. Its payment infrastructure already supports assets including BTC, ETH, USDT, TON, TRX, XRP, LTC and DOGE, with USDC on Solana now joining that list.

Still, the more interesting part of the Nepal story is not the product expansion. It is what happens when the money and attention inside crypto get pointed toward something outside the industry.

The Solana auction turned a valuable piece of Crypto Twitter real estate into nearly $167,000 for disaster relief. Combined with its separate donation to MHN, 1win contributed more than $46,000. For an industry that spends enormous amounts competing for online attention, Nepal offered an example of how some of that attention can also be converted into something tangible for people who need it.
