Crypto Can Solve The Casino Floor’s Cashier Problem

Crypto Can Solve The Casino Floor’s Cashier Problem

Casinos have spent decades making it easy to put money into a game. Getting a large amount back out…well, that’s not as simple.

Win at a casino and there is one stop before the celebration starts: the cashier cage. Bigger wins can mean identification, tax forms, transaction reporting and, depending on the amount and property, a check instead of a pile of cash.

Most of the friction exists for legitimate regulatory and security reasons. It does, however, expose an increasingly obvious difference between traditional casinos and their online, crypto-enabled counterparts. Regular casinos still move winnings through a physical building and banking system. The other can potentially send them directly to a wallet.

Players seem increasingly comfortable with the second model. U.S. iGaming revenue jumped 27.6% in 2025 to a record $10.73 billion.

Win Fast, Paid Slow

Walk into a Vegas casino, hit a jackpot and the machine can tell you exactly how much you won in seconds. The financial side of the transaction has more steps.

The IRS raised the information-reporting threshold for certain gambling winnings to $2,000 for 2026, but reportable bingo, keno and slot winnings can still require the winner to produce two forms of identification, including one with a photo. The previous threshold had become enough of a nuisance that gaming-industry advocates specifically argued that increasing it would reduce “operational friction” on casino floors.

Then there’s the case of large cash-outs. Under federal anti-money-laundering rules, casinos must report currency transactions exceeding $10,000 in a gaming day and maintain controls around large chip and ticket redemptions.

Nevada’s own regulations state that casinos must promptly redeem their chips, but they can do so using cash or a check, and can request government-issued identification before completing a redemption.

Again, these are safeguards. But if you have just won $50,000, there is a large gap between seeing a winning number on a screen and having spendable money sitting in your own account.

Crypto Changes the Cashier

A crypto casino can remove much of the physical journey.

There are no chips to exchange and no envelope of cash to carry out of a building. Once an approved withdrawal is sent, the payment moves across a blockchain to an address controlled by the player. A transaction ID can provide a public record that the transfer actually happened.

That is a big reason crypto has become more deeply integrated into major platforms such as 1win, rather than being just another deposit option.

1win says its crypto infrastructure supports deposits and withdrawals across assets including BTC, ETH, USDT, TON, TRX, XRP, LTC and DOGE, with supported transactions capable of completing in under 90 seconds depending on the network and processing conditions. It has also expanded into USDC transfers on Solana.

The more interesting test of its payout infrastructure came with a big number. In August, a player reportedly deposited 1 million USDC, bet the full amount on Paris Saint-Germain to beat Aston Villa and finished with $1.749 million in USDC. The player successfully withdrew the winnings.

A seven-figure deposit is obviously useful to any gaming company. Sending nearly $1.75 million back out after the customer wins is the part of the story that matters to players.

The Wallet Is Becoming the New Casino Cage

Physical casinos still have plenty that online platforms cannot recreate. People go to Las Vegas, Macau and Monte Carlo for the tables, restaurants, shows and atmosphere, not because walking to the cashier cage is particularly exciting.

Online casinos compete on a different experience. They can be available without a flight or hotel room, carry thousands of games in one interface and increasingly let players move money with the same digital assets they already hold.

Crypto adds another advantage: portability. A payout arriving in USDC, BTC or another supported asset does not have to be collected, carried out of a casino and deposited into a bank before it becomes digitally usable. The gambling industry spent years bringing the casino floor onto a phone, but crypto is now bringing the cashier there too.
