Coinbase Brings Back Coinbase Pro And Links US, Global Crypto Derivatives Markets Through Deribit

In Brief

Coinbase will relaunch Coinbase Pro by year-end and completes Deribit integration, unifying US and global crypto derivatives markets on one exchange.

Coinbase Brings Back Coinbase Pro And Links US, Global Crypto Derivatives Markets Through Deribit

Coinbase has announced plans to bring back its Pro trading platform by the end of 2026 as part of its expanding “Everything Exchange” strategy. The professional platform, rebuilt from the ground up, will support spot trading, futures, perpetual contracts, options, and stocks, targeting high-volume active traders who execute complex strategies across multiple markets. The relaunched version promises faster order routing, improved execution flows, and advanced trading tools.

Coinbase retired the original Coinbase Pro in 2022 after moving advanced trading into its main app, completing that transition in November 2023. The announcement came at the Token2049 conference in Singapore, where Coinbase also confirmed it has completed the integration of Deribit, the crypto options exchange it acquired for approximately $2.9 billion in August 2025, creating the Coinbase Global exchange. The integration marks the first time US and international derivatives markets have been connected into a single liquidity pool.

Global Derivatives and New Trading Capabilities

The combination gives Coinbase access to Deribit’s liquidity, which held more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of September 30 and processed over $1 trillion in trading volume last year. Coinbase Financial Markets, the company’s US-regulated futures commission merchant, will roll out Deribit-powered options, spot margin, and unified portfolios in the coming weeks, offering features including cross-portfolio risk modeling, multi-asset margin offsets, and single-step options execution.

The structure was enabled by Commodity Futures Trading Commission guidance issued in May 2026, allowing eligible US clients to access global crypto derivatives through a regulated channel rather than offshore entities, multiple counterparties, and fragmented venues. Eligible traders outside the United States will gain options access first, while US retail access is expected later this year. US institutional clients can already begin onboarding to trade Deribit options and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime, alongside spot, futures, custody, financing, and staking on a single platform.

Supporting upgrades include spot margin allowing eligible traders to borrow against collateral for leverage of up to 10x on selected major assets and 5x on other supported assets, a new high-performance matching engine, a shortened retail onboarding process, and restructured fee tiers that now activate at just $10,000 in qualifying volume across combined spot and derivatives activity.
