Blockchain Infrastructure Firm Plume Joins DTCC Group To Advance Institutional Tokenized Securities Settlement

Plume Network, a modular blockchain infrastructure platform purpose-built for real-world asset tokenization, has joined the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation‘s Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group.

The membership places Plume alongside more than one hundred financial institutions—including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Charles Schwab, and Nasdaq—that are collaboratively shaping the operational framework for tokenized securities within United States capital markets.

The DTCC, which provides custody and asset servicing for over $114 trillion in assets and clears approximately $3,700 trillion in transactions annually, launched its Digital Assets Solutions division on March 31, 2026. The industry working group formed in May 2026 with over fifty participating firms and has since doubled in membership.

Its mandate is to advance the DTCC Tokenization Service by facilitating structured dialogue between traditional finance and digital asset innovators, with the goal of improving interoperability between blockchain-based systems and existing settlement infrastructure.

The initiative has already produced concrete operational results. In July 2026, the DTCC completed successful trades involving DTC-custodied tokenized assets, including Russell 1000 stocks and exchange-traded funds. These transactions followed an SEC No-Action Letter issued roughly seven months earlier that provided the necessary regulatory clarity.

A broader commercial launch of the DTC tokenization service is scheduled for October 2026, an event that would mark the first time mainstream institutional settlement infrastructure formally supports tokenized securities at scale.

Regulatory Positioning and the Transfer Agent Role

Plume’s participation carries particular weight due to its status as a Securities and Exchange Commission-registered transfer agent, a designation it obtained on October 6, 2025. This authorization allows Plume to legally maintain the official record of ownership for tokenized securities directly on its blockchain, rather than merely mirroring records held by conventional intermediaries.

Through its Kimber Transfer Agency subsidiary, Plume can sit between issuers and shareholders, effectively replacing traditional bank or brokerage record-keeping with onchain verification.

The platform also emphasizes infrastructure-level security, working with partners to scan every transaction at the sequencer level before onchain inclusion. Since its registration, Plume has highlighted interoperability with DTCC networks as a core feature, positioning its transfer agent status as a bridge between decentralized ledgers and traditional post-trade systems rather than an isolated alternative.

With the October 2026 commercial launch approaching, Plume’s dual role as both a working group participant and a regulated transfer agent positions it to service institutional demand for compliant tokenized securities settlement from day one.
