Nigeria Hosts SheIsIncluded Summit To Advance Women’s Economic Inclusion, Bridging Policy Commitment With Practical National Delivery

The SheIsIncluded 2026 Summit has concluded with a decisive emphasis on translating policy frameworks into measurable outcomes for women’s economic inclusion across Nigeria. The two-day event was jointly convened by the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, bringing together senior government officials, development partners, financial institutions, and private-sector stakeholders under the theme “Designing for Delivery: Financing. Systems. Scale.”

As a component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the summit sought to reinforce the institutional architecture required to broaden economic access for women through collaborative implementation rather than isolated programming.

SheIsIncluded functions as a national movement rather than a discrete intervention, aligning governmental bodies, development agencies, and commercial enterprises behind a unified objective of enabling greater female participation in the national economy. The initiative targets bringing 10 million Nigerian women within reach of marketable skills, formal recognition, and economic opportunity through a coordinated delivery model.

Ubuntu Tribe serves as the implementation and technology partner for the movement, operating not as its focal point but as the operational mechanism that facilitates nationwide rollout. The organisation deploys mobile-first educational content in local languages via devices already owned by participants, culminating in verifiable credentials that employers and financial institutions can validate. This structure is intended to generate tangible pathways into employment, entrepreneurship, and broader economic engagement.

Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, addressed the assembly on the evolving philosophy underpinning the initiative.

“For too long, women have largely been beneficiaries of intervention programmes. What we want now is to economically empower them so they become co-creators of prosperity.”

That orientation toward execution was echoed by Dr. Nurudeen Zauro, Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion and Secretary of PreCEFI, who stated:

“The summit marks a decisive transition from policy conversations to practical implementation.”

From National Framework to Individual Pathways

The operational design of SheIsIncluded centres on a replicable progression: a woman enrols using her mobile telephone, acquires a practical and vocationally relevant skill in her native language, obtains a verifiable credential, has that qualification acknowledged by prospective employers or financial service providers, and subsequently leverages it to advance her employment prospects, launch a business, or access capital. When replicated across millions of participants, this individual trajectory is projected to yield aggregate national advancement.

Mamadou Kwidjim Toure, Founder of Ubuntu Tribe, elaborated on the technological rationale during his address to summit participants.

“A woman should not need wealth or proximity to opportunity to develop a valuable skill,” he said. Ubuntu’s role is to put that opportunity within reach through the phone already in her hand and a credential the economy can recognise. Access becomes meaningful when it opens a path to real economic participation. Ubuntu is the engine behind Nigeria’s movement. Individual transformation multiplied becomes national transformation,” Mamadou Kwidjim Toure added.

Participation in the educational component incurs no cost to the women involved. Financing is arranged through a coalition structure that integrates government direction, development-sector technical capacity, and private-sector resourcing, thereby preserving free access while maintaining the scalability necessary for nationwide coverage.

Women’s economic participation has been designated a strategic pillar within Nigeria’s wider development planning. Federal Government data indicates that national digital skills programmes have already engaged more than 263,000 citizens, while enhanced female economic involvement constitutes part of the country’s stated goal of achieving a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030. These statistics reflect official policy targets and aggregated national programme results, and are not directly attributable to SheIsIncluded or Ubuntu Tribe.

As the initiative enters its implementation phase, evaluative criteria will focus on the number of women reached, the skills acquired, the credentials earned, and the subsequent application of those qualifications to employment, enterprise development, and strengthened economic engagement throughout Nigeria. The underlying objective remains consistent: individual advancement, when systematically delivered at scale, is expected to produce national economic transformation.
