Infinex Launches Confidential Cross-Chain Privacy Layer Built On NEAR Protocol’s Private Shard Architecture

Cross-chain cryptocurrency application Infinex announced the launch of Infinex Confidential, a privacy-oriented feature built upon NEAR Protocol’s Confidential Intents framework. The feature enables depositing assets from any supported chain in any denomination, executing swaps within a private environment, and withdrawing funds to self-selected destinations without exposing transaction details to public blockchain explorers.
The technical foundation relies on a private shard within the NEAR ecosystem that operates without public remote procedure call access or a block explorer, while maintaining a bridge to the public NEAR network.
The deposit workflow begins within the confidential interface, where a single-use address is generated for a specific token and network. Each address is minted against a brief quotation window and requires passkey authentication for creation, with a minimum transfer value of $1 USD per transaction. Alternatively, funds may be transferred through the Move function, which accepts inputs from the primary Infinex wallet, imported wallets, and hardware wallets. Each Move operation independently generates a one-time entry mechanism, either through a fresh deposit address or via a signed intent processed by NEAR’s intents contract when the assets already reside on NEAR Intents.
Once deposited, balances are held under a per-user confidential identity rather than a conventional blockchain address. This identity utilizes a dedicated cryptographic key that remains separate from primary wallet keys and is subject to the same passkey-gated custody model as the broader account. No address appears within the activity feed, and no address data is transmitted to analytics platforms. Routing across the full spectrum of tokens supported by NEAR Intents is facilitated through Swidge.
Withdrawal functionality permits returning funds to the main Infinex wallet through the Move option, or routing assets privately to an external address via the Send function. The activity feed does not display the recipient in either case. Supported exit networks encompass EVM-compatible chains and Solana, alongside the native NEAR Intents set comprising Bitcoin, Dogecoin, XRP, Zcash, Cardano, and Litecoin.
Privacy Architecture and Data Visibility
The privacy model operates through a structural separation between public endpoints and confidential intermediaries. When a deposit is initiated, the transaction registers on the blockchain as a standard NEAR Intents entry, utilizing the same infrastructure as non-confidential transfers; consequently, the public ledger does not indicate that the funds have entered a private environment. The withdrawal endpoint similarly appears as an ordinary transfer on its destination chain. An external observer examining public records could theoretically correlate an inbound deposit with an outbound withdrawal by matching asset type, amount, and temporal proximity, though the intermediate phase remains entirely confined to the private shard. This design conceals the transaction lifecycle between entry and exit but does not obscure the external boundaries.
The confidential environment is governed by operational parameters that distinguish it from fully permissionless infrastructure. Infinex and NEAR’s relay systems process all confidential orders and retain the operational data necessary to maintain the service. The private shard is maintained by a permissioned validator set that NEAR describes as trust-minimized rather than fully trustless. Individual user data is encrypted on a per-account basis, assets are never commingled across accounts, and no external participant possesses the cryptographic capacity to decrypt another account’s information.
Recipients of private transfers observe only the incoming transaction details: the asset, the amount, and the arrival timestamp. The sender address displayed on public blockchain explorers cannot be attributed to the originating Infinex account. The platform currently does not offer selective disclosure tools, such as user-held view keys for sharing transaction history with accountants or auditors, though this capability remains on NEAR’s development roadmap.
