Gate Update: $12B In Open Interest, Four-Market Equities Coverage, And A Week Of Firsts In Derivatives

Gate’s week was defined by three converging storylines: the exchange recorded $201.96 million in net inflows over seven days, placing it in the global top three among centralized exchanges per DefiLlama; it completed the rollout of Japanese stock trading to its mobile App, giving users unified USDT-based access to equities across four major markets; and it became the first exchange to launch pre-market perpetual futures trading on Shein ahead of the fast-fashion company’s Hong Kong Stock Exchange debut. Together, these developments reflect a platform moving in parallel across institutional scale, cross-asset infrastructure, and derivatives coverage.

Platform Metrics

On the 24-hour timeframe, Gate recorded $20.54 million in net inflows, ranking second globally among centralized exchanges. Its futures open interest over the same period exceeded $12.1 billion, also placing it in the top three CEXs worldwide.

Equities Expansion

The Japanese stock App launch is the most substantive product development of the period. The initial offering covers approximately 300 Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed names — including Toyota, Sony, SoftBank, Nintendo, and Tokyo Electron — accessible through a unified USDT account. Gate’s global equities coverage now spans the US, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan, with over 12,800 stocks and ETFs available across markets. Lucas Sum, Gate’s Head of Market Development for Equities, observed during Coinfest Asia 2026 that platform competition is shifting from trading scale toward cross-market and multi-asset service capability — the Japanese App rollout is a direct expression of that orientation.

On rankings, RootData placed Gate second globally among stock spot exchanges with an overall score of 79.28, making it the only top-three platform to record growth in both 24-hour order book trading volume (up 9.06% to approximately $67.03 million) and market share (up 2.73% to 15.73%).

In tokenized equities, the gStocks sector posted strong 24-hour gains, led by:

  • MicroStrategy (MSTRG/USDT, +11.61%),
  • Circle (CRCLG/USDT, +4.58%),
  • Palantir (PLTRG/USDT, +4.52%).

Tech stock tokens tracked similar momentum, with:

  • NVIDIA (NVDAG/USDT) up 3.49%,
  • SpaceX (SPCXG/USDT) up 2.53%,
  • Meta (METAG/USDT) up 0.99%.

Derivatives and New Listings

Gate launched pre-market perpetual futures on Shein (SHEINUSDT), described as an industry first. The Hong Kong-listed fast-fashion company’s contract supports 1–10x leverage. Additionally, the exchange added four perpetual futures contracts — DJT (Trump Media & Technology Group), RAM (Roundhill T-REX 2X Long DRAM Daily Target ETF), TEM (Tempus AI), and MARA (Marathon Digital Holdings) — all USDT-margined and supporting up to 20x leverage.

In derivatives performance, Gate’s NVDAX futures open interest reached $10.44 million with $25.18 million in trading volume, both ranking first among centralized exchanges per CoinGlass. SpaceX (SPCX) futures OI reached $112 million, ranking second. Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT) OI stood at $6.43 million, ranking first among major CEXs per CoinMarketCap data. In metals, Gate’s silver (XAG) futures open interest reached $72.83 million, placing it among the top two industry-wide, with silver spot trading reaching a 24-hour high of $69.76. Pons (PONS) was also listed for spot and Convert trading during this period.

Research and Institutional

Gate Institutional’s weekly report noted that BTC and ETH broke above key technical levels over the past week, triggering a short squeeze and diverging from US equities. Spot BTC ETF net inflows reached approximately $1.918 billion, with ETH ETFs recording $693 million. On-chain activity recovered across Base and Solana, stablecoin supply expanded — led by USDC and RLUSD — and BTC open interest rose to approximately $12.6 billion as funding rates climbed. Gate TradFi weekly volume remained above $100 billion.

Gate Research published a report on crypto payment cards, finding that cumulative tracked volume has surpassed $10 billion, with monthly volume exceeding $1 billion and transaction count topping 10 million in July 2026. RedotPay holds approximately 56% of the tracked market. The report also covered Gate Card’s T0–T5 rewards structure offering up to 8% cashback, and its integration with WeChat Pay, Alipay, Meituan, and Taobao, as well as completed payment testing for select AI-powered digital services.

Event Markets and Campaigns

Gate’s event market was active across football, covering two LaLiga fixtures — Celta vs. Osasuna and Barcelona vs. Athletic (the latter attracting 79% support) — and two Premier League matches: Crystal Palace vs. Man City and Liverpool vs. Forest. These sit within Gate’s “Big Five Leagues Kickoff” campaign (August 12–31), featuring a 200,000 USDT total prize pool, 10 USDT prediction vouchers, and up to 100 USDT in loss protection per eligible trade. Gate’s second Event Points phase currently holds a prize pool of $18,699, with the top-ranked user projected to earn 5,609 USDT.

On the promotions side, Gate launched a new-user Event Contracts campaign (August 27 – September 9) offering a 5.5 USDT voucher on signup and trading volume rebates of up to 1%. The VIP Futures Trading Elite Challenge Season 4 runs August 31 – September 22, with a 60,000 USDT cash prize pool, 88g gold bars, Dyson gifts, and F1 race tickets for the top three finishers. Futures Points Airdrop Phase 135, launching August 31, offers eligible users 100 USDT position vouchers and 12 GUSD based on point balances.
