What’s Pendle?

Launched in June 2021, Pendle is a yield-aggregating protocol designed to encourage the formation of yield markets on DeFi platforms as well as the pooling of tokens that generate yield. It enables token owners to mint their tokens into OT and YT. By selling their rights to yield (Mint + Sell YT), holders of yield-generating tokens may lock in their gains and get paid upfront. Purchasers of these rights (Buy YT) are not required to buy and stake the primary underlying asset. Therefore, they may be exposed to the rates more capital-efficiently.

Who Are the Founders of Pendle?

What Makes Pendle Unique?

With its fixed-income strategy, Pendle is starting to emerge as the DeFi of the decades to come, presenting a distinctive product. Its concept is unique as it presents a paradigm that has the potential to completely change the way individuals use crypto to generate passive income. Pendle uses a special time-decaying Automated Market Maker (AMM) to tokenize yield in their trading strategy. With this method, customers may earn fixed yields on their assets by trading yield tokens. Principal and income are divided by tokens with Pendle, offering a special potential for asset management.

Pendle sets itself apart with its three primary features: a governance structure, an automated market maker (AMM), and yield tokenization. The platform witnessed settled yield trades of over $350 million in its first year of operation. Launched in late 2022, Pendle V2 provides increased capital flexibility, enhanced efficiency, and fixed-rate trading. Pendle’s future goals include permissionless integration with any assets that bear interest and an incentive-aligned architecture that increases revenues and liquidity.
