Apple’s ‘RealityOS’ name for possible VR headset appears in mystery trademark application

What to expect from Apple’s upcoming mixed reality headset

“RealityOS,” considered the most likely name for the Apple Virtual Reality headset operating system, has been spotted in a trademark application filed by a company based in Delaware called Realityo Systems.

The application was noted in a tweet by Parker Ortolani, a consumer product manager for The Verge and its related publications.

As The Verge notes, Apple’s name isn’t on this trademark application, but large businesses often file applications for trademarks under fake company names like Realityo Systems LLC. Additionally, Delaware’s rules allow filers to remain anonymous — however, the address used for the RealityOS trademark is the same one used by a known Apple pseudonym, Yosemite LLC.

This is likely additional evidence that Apple is poised to announce its long-rumored wearable, coming as it does after recent reports of the tech giant’s board of directors getting a look at the headset.

This doesn’t mean Apple will introduce the headset and RealityOS during its yearly developer’s conference (WWDC) set to kick off on June 6, but with the pace of VR and AR adoption speeding up as more companies dig into Web3 and the Metaverse, it does suggest Apple isn’t wasting time in the final development stages for its device.
